Spring has sprung, and as usual in the foothills of the Montana mountains it is not that much different from winter. I finally got the first image of the spring to post today. Why go to the Platte River or Bosque del Apache when we have sandhill cranes landing in our back yard?
Actually, in one of the large lots behind our back yard. I have seen cranes a mile or so to the northwest on my bike rides, but don't usually see them right here. The last sighting was August of 2023.
I received a new Reconyx trail camera today and was going to put it out on the bluebird box, but as you can see the snow had started coming down. It's not that the camera can't take the weather, but I want to spend some time figuring out how to aim it since there is no live view. I believe the bluebirds are in the area but they usually wait until the weather is a little better to make the rounds.
