During a drive between Havre and Glasgow in northern Montana, we made stops at Beaver Creek Park and Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge. Beaver Creek Park is supposedly the largest county park in the nation, 10,000 acres in a long strip of land along the creek. It seems oriented mostly for camping, and we did not see the beavers. I have a few snapshots of a blackbird, a pelican, and an unusual flower in the gallery.

Bowdoin is a typical NWR. There is a driving loop around several bodies of water. I was impressed with the variety of shorebirds, including what I was told is white-faced ibises. We didn't get that close and it is hard to see the supposedly white faces in the images. If I hadn't been told the name, I would have called them glossy ibises, which I got an image of way back in 2002. There also were swarms of blue dragonflies, and I got a few shots of those. I would like to return someday with my photo blind and just set up on the shore taking pictures of the shorebirds running around, but I don't know if that will ever happen.
