I was hanging around the suet feeder at Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary, a Mass Audubon refuge, waiting for woodpeckers. I noticed that chickadees were sampling the suet. No, really there is a patch on its belly that you can't see most of the time because woodpeckers usually have their belly up against something.
